production blog-film today

On Wednesday the 5th I started filming my 30 second commercial. There was good weather which gave me the ability to film outside. I filmed at the golf course and was able to do what I needed to effectively. I brought my costumes and props to the location I filmed at. I made sure to direct the specific scenes that needed to be filmed with the filmer. I got the appropiate angles and shots needed. The golf course was busy but I managed to get enough space and time to film. I also made sure to re-shoot scenes that did not come out the right way. One scene I did was the ball rolling into the hole. This took two tries because the shot missed the first. I had to retake it to be able to get the exact shot I was looking for, for that scene. I set up one of my props so the logo could be read. I placed the ball in the cup with the Taylormade logo facing upwards so the camera could zoom in and capture the ball in the cup while displaying the logo. I did not use a tripod for this as it would not be efficient. I had a friend film the shots instead so I could get zoom and angles within my commercial. My entire process of filming took no more than 30 minutes and I was very quick and efficient. I had to be quick because I was in a public place with other people around so I had to be able to be out of their way and not be a burden. My first film day ended up being a success. The shots I took turned out really well. I am unsure if I will need to go back to film more but I think I have enough shots. I look foward to editing my commercial and making it come to life with music and transitions. Overall this was a successful day.
